48 hours before the start of the Oktoberfest, the brake pads of a ride had to be replaced. Without new brake pads, the ride was not allowed to accept passengers. Since the brake pads were special, they were not in stock anywhere. PZ Friction manufactured special brake pads in time so that the ride could start operating on time for the start of the festival. For which types of brakes are the brake pads from PZ Friction suitable?
PZ Friction brake pads are basically suitable for all types of industrial brakes that work by converting kinetic energy into thermal energy.
In which delivery forms are the brake pads available?
Our brake pads are available in the following delivery forms:
- as flat band goods up to 2.000 mm
- as rolls up to 5.000 mm
- as rolls in special lengths
- as sheet goods up to 1,000 x 1,500 mm
- as blocks with or without carrier materials
- as compression molded parts, for example rings or ring segments

Are there maximum batch sizes for the production of brake pads?
At PZ Friction, we specialize in individual special solutions in very small batches. We will be happy to advise you individually on the batch sizes up to which we can manufacture your brake pads on schedule.
How long does it take to develop individual brake pads?
The development time for individual brake pads basically depends on the scope, individuality and type of requirements. Our goal is to meet your delivery deadlines - so contact us even if time is tight. We will find a solution - even overnight if necessary.
Are the prototypes chargeable?
Before you place an order, you will receive one or more prototypes to test in your application. Both the consultation and the prototypes are free of charge and without obligation for you.

What does the development and production of individual brake pads cost?
At PZ Friction, we specialize in individual special solutions in very small batches. We will be happy to advise you individually on the batch sizes up to which we can manufacture your brake pads on schedule.
Are PZ Friction brake pads also suitable for applications where JURID pads are approved?
Some of our grades correspond exactly to the respective JURID grades and can be installed in the applications without further approvals. Information on this can be found in the data sheets of our qualities - or simply contact us.
Raw materials for our brake pads:
Grafite
Graphite is insensitive to almost all influences to which your brake lining is exposed. It withstands acid, flash rust and high temperatures without embrittlement or other changes. Depending on the requirements and application of your brake, we add suitable quantities of graphite.
The origin of our Grafite
We buy our graphite exclusively from certified, predominantly European suppliers where we can clearly trace the origin. We pass on our assurance to you: Your product consists only of responsibly sourced resources. An attribute that your customers will also appreciate.
Synthetic resins
Synthetic resins serve as binders of the raw materials of your industrial brake pads. Together with rubber, it reliably bonds all components. We optimally match the composition to the raw materials used and the target requirements. This is because the ratio between resin, rubber and the other raw materials affects the strength and noise development of your brake pads.
Our resins: This is where they come from
For your brake pads, we use only synthetic resins from responsible production. This ensures consistent properties without any natural fluctuations. Each of our suppliers is certified to at least ISO 9001. We also pay attention to regional sources: A large proportion of the synthetic resins in your brake pads come from Germany.
Synthetic rubber
In addition to resin, we also use synthetic rubber to bond the raw materials. The right amount of rubber gives the brake pad exactly the flexibility and resistance needed for your application.
Sustainable origin of our synthetic rubber
As with all other raw materials, we also place great value on traceable production when it comes to rubber. By using synthetic rubber, your end product is free of raw materials from environmentally harmful monocultures. We also exclude natural variations in properties. When choosing our suppliers, we pay attention to regionality, so that we keep CO2 emissions low during delivery.
Pigments
Pigments perfect the friction properties of your brake pads. Depending on the application, colored pigments also allow individual coloring. This makes your brake pads a perfectly matched component in every respect.

We also pay close attention to quality and origin when selecting the suppliers of our pigments. Each of our largely German suppliers is certified, and we carefully check the quality of each new delivery before we use it for your brake pads.

For your brake lining, we draw on more than 300 different raw materials. In addition to the main components, these also include some special raw materials that we use individually. They improve the friction coefficient, make your brake pad insensitive to unusual influences or facilitate shaping. Each raw material contributes in precisely coordinated proportions to the braking performance you need for your product.

Even for raw materials that we only need in small quantities for your brake pads, we pay attention to quality and origin in purchasing. That's why we only work with suppliers who are certified to at least ISO 9001 and who place just as much value on quality as we do.
